One Man's Trash

A stuffed dog picked up by a research ship in the ocean and named "Lucky." There's a soft spot in my heart for trashed stuffed animals salvaged and adopted. And the National Geographic article that brought Lucky to my attention also makes me think about all the things we throw away, and where they may eventually go. Which is why I recycle my plastic grocery bags, even though I'm still not diligent enough to just remember to bring the reusable shopping bags to the store or advocate that our condo sign up for recycling.

Exactly, Pinterest

Blogging and all the crafts that Pinterest has to offer are still things I have little time for, although I did recently make this "bro-quet" for Jason for Valentine's Day.
With a little planning, an early morning stop at the grocery store, and hasty assembly at my desk, I had Valentine's Day complete.  It was with some embarrassment that I had to explain to the guy whose office is opposite mine what I was up to, and that it was on my lunch break, for the record.  Our CEO even stopped by and was full of compliments for my work.  I was a little chagrined, since I do feel like I have done more strategic, important and impactful work in my tenure here...but hey, I guess any positive attention should be accepted with gratitude?
Most importantly, Jason enjoyed it.  And our cat destroyed it that night.

Say it with Flowers: "Hello Kitty!!"

How have I lived so long without knowing this essential life skill: How to Make A Hello Kitty Bouquet
I will have to add this to my list of "Crafts to Make Once Calvin Can Self-Care a Little Better."  Right now, 7 minutes of independent play is likely not enough time to craft Kitty from carnations.
