Pink Moon

There was a full moon shining through our bedroom blinds last night, so bright it woke me up. As bright as a street lamp, but high in the sky and nearly perfectly round: a full, bright moon.

A pink moon, like the Nick Drake song. But that's based on a 4 am Google search and Instagram post. This article link from Travel+Leisure magazine begins, "You don't want to miss it!" Unless you are trying to sleep and instead are woken up by its intense bright light shining through your blinds (the little rod that works to close the blinds is broken) and trying to do my usual trick of tugging on the strings themselves was risky as it could wake up both of the other sleepers in our home, and as the Easter Bunny was due to arrive at some point during the night, I did NOT want to wake up a sleeping child who'd eat jelly beans for breakfast.

I went back to sleep and woke up again three hours later. Glad to have looked up it in the middle of the night, and taken a picture, so that it wouldn't be a dream that seemed very surreal but also explainable as a street light. I am grateful to others who photographed this full moon, named for the pink flowers that rise out of the ground in the spring, including Andy Spessard, a local professional photographer who had posted it just in time for me to be reassured, and go back to sleep, and allow the Easter Bunny to hop quietly in and out without anyone waking up again last night.
